1. Introduction and pictures
At the Redmi Note 10 series conference, in addition to the mobile phone, Redmi’s first wireless noise-cancelling headset was also released together. It may be that the light of the mobile phone is so bright that AirDots 3 Pro was ignored, but the author believes that this is also a very A cost-effective product.
Why do you say this? Let’s look at the official description first. The flagship configuration is the selling point, and in the 100-yuan gear, the noise reduction depth reaches 35dB, and the minimum delay reaches 69ms. This configuration is quite rare at the same price.
Although it is its first wireless noise-cancelling headset, the AirDots 3 Pro is not a test of water. Xiaomi has launched a number of flagship wireless noise-cancelling headphones, so Redmi has enough experience to learn from, and the latter are mostly high-end. So the sound quality is also from the Xiaomi Audio Lab tuning.
Redmi AirDots 3 Pro is available in two colors, and the one in my hand is ice crystal gray.

The charging box of Redmi AirDots 3 Pro adopts a cobblestone-shaped design and is round as a whole. It is also a common form of TWS at present. The bottom is a USB Type-C charging interface and supports QI wireless charging.
Supporting wireless charging is a very convenient configuration. If the headset is out of power when going out, some mobile phones support the wireless reverse charging function. You only need to place the headset on the wireless charging board of the mobile phone for ten minutes to meet the use of a day.

The headphone body adopts a nano-scale optical texture diaphragm, combined with the acrylic material with extremely high light transmittance, so that the headphone presents a crystal clear effect.

The shape of the earphone is in-ear, which depends on whether the individual accepts it or not. Some people like half-in-ear to reduce ear pressure, but the noise reduction is not as good as in-ear. Therefore, most of the main noise-cancelling headphones are basically in-ear.
Includes a charging cable and four pairs of earbuds (one pair pre-installed)
2. Practical experience
Let’s go through the general functions quickly, and we won’t talk about connecting the headset. Since I bought the TWS, it is naturally no problem to connect to the mobile phone.
After opening the headphone cover, the Xiaomi mobile phone running MIUI12.5 will automatically pop up the quick connection window, which is convenient for connection, and the Bluetooth page can control the audio of the headphone.
It is Xiao Ai who really controls the headset. You can set the left ear and right ear functions of the headset, as shown in the figure above. The two gestures can be interchanged left and right.
Then you can enter the details of the headset device, which can display the current status of the headset, with functions such as voice hot words, wearing detection, automatic answering of incoming calls, sound effect mode, earplug fit detection, laboratory and other functions.
The above two functions are more interesting. The smart scene is that when the device is connected to Xiao Ai, if there is no operation within 5 seconds, it will automatically greet and broadcast the time, weather, dressing suggestions, etc. according to the added custom scene.
Finding headphones is a lot of “violence”. Sometimes you don’t know where the headphones are at home. As long as the phone can be connected, and then turn on the headphones, a strong ringtone will be played automatically so that you can find them.
Well, the function is simply finished, let’s look at the most important.
In addition to sound quality and noise reduction, users pay more attention to TWS headphones, such as delay, wearing comfort, etc., so here the author classifies the actual experience, specifically wearing comfort, hearing noise reduction, call, delay, battery life, because Headphone Review is mostly subjective experience, not to mention pale words, so the comfort and noise reduction of hearing are experienced by two people, one is a headphone enthusiast and the other is a headphone novice. Let’s talk about Redmi AirDots 3 Pro respectively. experience.
– wearing comfort
We all know that wearing earphones for a long time will put pressure on the external ear canal, and because it is in direct contact with the skin, the material of the earplugs and the design of the earphones are very important. For example, many users have said that some TWS earphones have ear inflammation after wearing them. condition.
Let’s put aside the ear inflammation. Everyone’s skin sensitivity is different. The AirDots 3 Pro package provides three additional pairs of earplugs. Using the default earplugs to wear, there is basically no strong sense of pressure. Half-in-ear suffers.
The author got the AirDots 3 Pro together with the Note 10 series. It has been about two weeks and has been worn for a long time. This is the reason why the review of this headset has not been released for the first time, because many netizens want to know whether the AirDots 3 Pro caused the problem. Inflammation, others do not know, anyway, after long-term wear, no similar situation occurred in the test. I also wear it for a long time in daily commuting and games. If it is two or three hours, the ear canal will be a little itchy. There is no way. This is an in-ear headset. common disease.
– Hearing noise reduction
Taking “Hotel California” as an example, the sense of hearing is experienced by headphone enthusiasts and Xiaobai respectively. It is very subjective, and everyone has their own opinions. This kind of data cannot be expressed. Interested bosses still go to offline stores to experience.
The sound field of the Redmi AirDots 3 Pro is a bit small, and the low frequency is a bit more, but the elasticity is very good, but it is a little loud, and the vocals and instruments also have a little bit of a lump. I don’t know if the sound field is slightly smaller or there is active noise reduction, it sounds a little stuffy (compared to Samsung buds+).
The noise reduction of the Redmi AirDots 3 Pro is very obvious in terms of hearing, but the adaptive noise reduction seems to be uncontrollable, and the deep noise reduction has also been adjusted in the function settings. Dominate, one moment of mild noise reduction, one moment of deep noise reduction, and switching back and forth.
Compared with the W51, the AirDots 3 Pro and the Note 10 Pro have a rare hearing performance at the same price, especially in terms of noise reduction, which is deeper than the W51 with the same 35dB, which should be related to the device.
In general, although the Redmi AirDots 3 Pro is its first noise-cancelling headset, the sound is a mature product, and the overall quality is beyond expectations.
–Delay
In terms of delay, because the author does not have professional test equipment at present, I use the Latency Test provided by Kuan netizens for a simple test. The specific principle is to play audio of a specific frequency, and then use a microphone to pick up the sound, so as to measure the playback of this paragraph. The time difference between the audio and the microphone detection of the audio, the calculated time difference is the audio delay.
Of course, this accuracy cannot be compared with professional instruments, but it is relatively close to the data at present, and the author uses a W51 for comparison. The models are Redmi Note 10 Pro and OnePlus 9 Pro, both of which are AAC encoded.
The calculation method is to subtract the transmission delay of the mobile phone itself from the delay data of the measured headset, and then divide by two to obtain the final millisecond data. This is because the mobile phone sends sound data to the headset, and then transmits the sound of the headset back to the mobile phone for testing, which is equivalent to the test going back and forth twice, and we do not need to send back data for daily use or playing games, so we need to divide by two. (This is quoted from a UP master at station B)
Let’s first look at the performance of AirDots 3 Pro and W51 in Redmi Note 10 Pro.
As shown in the figure, the round-trip audio delay of Redmi Note 10 Pro is 101ms, this data is not important, just use this data to calculate the delay of the phone itself.
Next, connect the AirDots 3 Pro. At the same time, turn off the call in the Bluetooth settings, only keep the media audio, then adjust the media volume to the maximum, and finally test the headset against the microphone on the top of the phone.
1. The delay between Redmi AirDots 3 Pro connecting to Note 10
After testing, the round-trip audio delay of Redmi AirDots 3 Pro is 369ms. Note that this is not the final data. It is necessary to subtract the delay of the mobile phone itself and divide by two to obtain the approximate delay of this headset, which is 134ms.
So a little embarrassing, the official claim is that it can reach 69ms ultra-low latency, the gap is almost doubled, why? The reason is that the ultra-low latency that the official said is in the game scene. At present, the author has not received an update for this one, but you can try it in the e-sports mode.
To be simple and direct, add Latency Test to the gaming mode of Note 10 Pro, and then run it should be the default game scene, and open the game and small window at the same time to fully ensure that you are in the game scene.
Then it is interesting. The round-trip audio delay of Redmi AirDots 3 Pro is greatly reduced, only 255ms, and the delay is only 77ms, which is very close to the official 69ms. Considering that the author is a software test, 69ms should be achievable.
2. The delay between W51 connecting to Note 10
After three tests, in the normal mode and the gaming mode, the round-trip audio delay of the W51 is more than 300, which is similar to the AirDots 3 Pro in the normal mode.
Then I took out the OnePlus 9 Pro running ColorOS for OnePlus and took a look at the latency of the two headphones on this model.
As shown, the round-trip audio latency of the OnePlus 9 Pro is 60ms.
3. Delay between Redmi AirDots 3 Pro connecting to OnePlus 9 Pro
As shown in the figure, the round-trip audio delay between Redmi AirDots 3 Pro and OnePlus 9 Pro is 320ms, and the final data is 130ms after conversion.
4. The delay of W51 connecting to OnePlus 9 Pro
What’s more interesting is that if the W51 is connected to the OnePlus 9 Pro, the round-trip delay is about 280ms, and the final data converted is 110ms, which surpasses the AirDots 3 Pro.
It can be seen from this that the two earphones need to be fully used in their respective brands of mobile phones, but even so, when the Redmi AirDots 3 Pro is turned on in the e-sports mode, the delay is indeed low, which is very suitable for users who play games. A Xiaomi phone or Note 10 Pro running MIUI 12.5.
– battery life
In terms of battery life, the battery capacity of the Redmi AirDots 3 Pro single earphone is 35mAh, and the capacity of the charging box is 470mAh. When the author uses it, the noise reduction mode is turned on throughout the whole process, but due to time reasons, there is no accurate calculation of the time. It is definitely no problem to use it for a week with a full charge and to meet a week of commuting (1 hour at a time, a total of 10 hours).
3. Summary
As a wireless noise-cancelling headset with a starting price of 299 yuan, Redmi AirDots 3 Pro once again shows an extraordinary price/performance ratio. Whether it is sound or delay, it has a very good performance. Just like mobile phones, Redmi did not use the same price. Competing products, but once again leapfrogged.
Of course, compared to higher-priced headphones, it has many shortcomings, but still, the price of 299 yuan is enough to improve the product power of AirDots 3 Pro. In front of such a price, it is not too much to talk about sound quality Much necessary.
