The iPad Air (2022) has been launched today along with the iPhone SE (2022) at a virtual Apple event. The new iPad Air works on the company’s M1 chip, which is already available on iPad Pro models and is also part of Mac computers. Along with the new chip, the iPad Air (2022) includes an advanced front-facing camera that takes center stage. Center Stage is a software feature that was released last year with the iPad Pro and iPad mini. However, the fifth generation iPad Air has the same design that was introduced on the model launched in 2020.

The iPad Air (2022) comes in Blue, Space Grey, Starlight, Pink and Purple colors and will be available for sale in 29 countries, including the US, from March 18. The new model will be available for pre-order in India from Friday, March 11.
In the US, the iPad Air (2022) starts at $599 (approximately Rs. 46,100). It is similar to previous iPad Air models.

iPad Air (2022) is launched with iPadOS 15. It has the same 10.9-inch LED-backlit Liquid Retina display that was offered on the model introduced in 2020. The display comes with a peak brightness of up to 500 nits and supports True Tone white balance along with the P3 wide-color gamut. Apart from this, the display also includes an anti-reflective coating. The new iPad Air also comes with Touch ID support, which is fitted with a power/standby button. Apple has given the M1 chip to the iPad Air (2022). However, the company has not made any disclosure about RAM as before.
Regarding the M1 chip, it has been claimed that it will give 60 percent faster CPU performance and two times faster graphics performance than the previous iPad Air.
Apple has fitted a 12-megapixel wide rear camera on the iPad Air (2022), the same as the previous model.
The new iPad Air comes with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide front camera that supports center stage feature that supports machine learning, which helps in adjusting the camera view while using some other apps including FaceTime.
The iPad Air (2022) comes in 64GB and 256GB storage options. Connectivity options include 5G (optional), Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5, GPS/ A-GPS and a USB Type-C connector. Sensors on board include an ambient light sensor, barometer and a three-axis accelerometer.
Apple has also provided support for Apple Pencil (2nd generation) on the new iPad Air. Floating design on the detachable keyboard and support for Magic Keyboard for creating a notebook-like experience using the built-in trackpad is also included.
Apple claims the iPad Air (2022) can deliver “all-day battery life”. However, the exact usage information has not been revealed yet.
