If you are using Apple device or are planning to buy an old iPhone, then this news is for you. Actually, a new information related to iPhone repair has come out, which is very important for you to know. In fact, Apple Stores and Authorized Service Centers will no longer repair iPhones that are listed as missing in the GSMA Device Registry. MacRumours reported in its report that according to an internal memo received by authorized Apple service centers, the company has asked its technicians to refuse repairs to users if the device they brought in for service was either MobileGenius or Listed as Stolen or Missing in the GSX system.
First of all know what is GSMA
The GSMA Global Registry is a database of devices’ serial numbers and their status such as missing, stolen, fraudulent. The registry also shows whether a device is subject to a payment plan or not. The Registered Devices status indicates the recommended action for those who handle the device. For example, if a device is registered as stolen, it will be blocked from network access and will not be bought or sold. This information helps in cases of device crime, digital fraud and security issues.
How will the new policy work?
Apple’s new policy aims to prevent its technicians and its authorized service providers from repairing devices that fall into the wrong hands. This is built on top of the company’s existing policy, as part of which the Apple Store and Authorized Apple Service Centers refuse to service devices placed in lost mode through the company’s Find My app.
It’s worth noting that in some cases Apple may accept device invoices as proof of purchase and ownership, even if users have lost access to their Apple ID. The company says that “Proof of ownership must include the product serial number, IMEI or MEID.”

If you have lost an iPhone, here is a step-by-step guide on how you can enable Lost Mode on an Apple device. It’s worth noting that turning on Lost Mode brings a number of changes to the way the device works. The company says that the device will not show alerts or play sound when there is a message or notification. However, the device can still receive phone calls and FaceTime calls.
