Google is adding a new ‘Data Safety’ section to its Play Store that will require app developers to give their users more information about the app’s data collection and how to keep it secure. Google says that users will start seeing the ‘Data Safety’ section in its Play Store app from Wednesday. Google has given developers time till July 20 to fill out this section.
What the Data Safety section will reflect on the developer:

Google is hoping to address this issue and user queries by introducing a new ‘Data Safety’ section in its Play Store. Users can also check whether a particular type of data is required for the app to function or if this data collection is optional.

The post states that Google is trying to improve security for Android users across the board with several key measures. For example, now when an app asks for key permissions like location or camera access, users have the option of limiting it to just one time, only while using the app, or all the time. Users on Android 12 can visit the Android Privacy Dashboard to review data access by apps for sensitive data permissions.
