Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 4 yesterday at its Galaxy Unpacked 2022 event, where the brand also launched several other devices. The new Fold 4 comes with many changes as compared to its predecessor and also enhances the internal specifications. Let us know what has been changed with the new Galaxy Z Fold 4 as compared to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 3.
Design
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 looks a lot like the Galaxy Z Fold 3, and it can be difficult to tell the phone apart at first glance. However, there are some small changes here. When folded compared to the Fold 3, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is more compact and can easily fit in the pocket. The device is lightweight and weighs around 17 grams.

Samsung also claims that the new Galaxy Z Fold 4 is stronger than the Galaxy Z Fold 3 despite being lighter. Instead of metal, a layer of fiber has been applied to support the digitizer of the display. Many changes have been made in the phone. Both phones offer screen protection, but the Galaxy Z Fold 4 gets Gorilla Glass Victus Plus instead of the Gorilla Glass Victus on the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
The size of both the displays (measured diagonally) on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 remains the same at 7.6-inches for the inner folding display and 6.2-inches for the outer cover display. However, the panels of the Fold 4 are slightly wider than those of the Fold 3. At the same time, there are AMOLED panels on both the phones, and there is 120Hz refresh rate support on both the external and internal screens.
Offers the biggest change compared to Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 3. The phone is now powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 instead of Snapdragon 888. The 8+ Gen 1 is a more powerful chipset and also comes with a more stable chip in terms of battery efficiency and thermal performance than the Snapdragon 888. On both the variants of the Fold, you get 12GB of RAM, but 256GB and 512GB of storage. Apart from this, the 1TB storage variant is also available in the Fold 4.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 also gets better cameras, instead of the 12MP+12MP+12MP triple cameras found on the Fold 3, we now have a 50MP+12MP+10Mp camera setup on the Fold 4. While not much change has been done with the ultrawide camera, and there is a slight drawback in the telephoto camera. In megapixel count, the new 50MP main sensor should improve regular shots and low-light photography on the Fold 4. Samsung also comes with a 4MP under-display camera and 10MP external front camera on the new Fold 4 like the Fold 3.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 both come with a 4,400mAh battery and support for 25W fast charging (wired). You also have Qi wireless charging support on both phones along with support for reverse power sharing (wireless) for any supported earbuds or smartwatch.
