DoT says that 5G services can be started in India this year. Also Ashwini Vaishnav had said that 5G will be introduced in India on the occasion of 15th August. DoT had earlier said that it would complete the 5G project by December 31, 2021. Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had announced that the government expects to hold an auction of 5G spectrum, including airwaves, in early June. After the auction, the government is likely to launch 5G services in 13 cities in August and September this year. However, more hope is being expressed that 5G will be rolled out on the occasion of Independence Day i.e. 15th August.
