SBI Yono SMS Scam: Phishing scams, frauds are common on the internet and scammers cheat people online in many ways and empty their bank balance in a jiffy. There have been several incidents in the past that have prompted users to share their bank account details and loot their money. Now a similar incident is also happening with the customers of State Bank of India.
SBI Yono Phishing Scam
Apparently, many SBI customers are getting a message to update their PAN number with a link which shows up as an SBI webpage but is actually a phishing scam. Is.
For some time now, SBI customers have been receiving a text message that their ‘Yono’ account will be blocked if they do not update their PAN number on the given link.
For information, let us tell you that YONO is SBI’s digital banking platform. The link in the message portrays it as an SBI page, asking users to enter sensitive information. If users give their details then scammers can further misuse it and your account can be wiped out.
This is a standard-issue phishing attack. The phishing attack is related to a bank account, so we advise you not to click on the link under any circumstances because if you click on the link and enter any sensitive information then your money will be stolen. And it is possible that the entire account may be wiped out.
SBI has accepted the phishing messages being sent to its customers. The government-led bank has mentioned that its IT security team will initiate appropriate action on this.
Further, it has advised customers not to respond to emails/SMS/calls/embedded links asking them to share their personal or banking information. Banks generally never ask for any OTP message or personal information. If you also get any such messages or calls, you can report the same on the helpline number 1930 at “[email protected]”.
