New Delhi. Chinese mobile phones are the largest sales force in India. One reason for this is the cheap price of these mobile phones. Due to the availability of so many features at a low price, Chinese mobile phones have a strong hold on the Indian market. However, now there is news that India is preparing to give another push to China. India has already banned more than 300 apps from China. Now some phones may also get canceled in India. In fact, India wants to give a boost to its faltering domestic industry. For this, it wants to ban Chinese smartphone makers from selling phones worth less than Rs 12,000. If reports are to be believed, India wants the phones of Chinese companies priced below Rs 12000 to be canceled. If this happens then many brands including Xiaomi Corp may face a big blow.
Why does India want to ban cheap Chinese mobile phones?
Let us tell you that after China, India is the second largest mobile market in the world. According to people familiar with the matter, the purpose of the cancellation of Chinese phones under Rs 12,000 is to drive the Chinese giants out of the bottom of the Indian phone market. Chinese brands like Transsion and Realme (Techno, Infinix) have a strong hold at the bottom of the Indian mobile market.
Chinese market stalled
If China cancels mobile phones in India’s entry-level market, then Chinese brands like Xiaomi will be hit hard. These Chinese brands have increasingly relied on India to maintain their hold in recent years. This is also because one stringent Kovid-19 lockdown in China completely destroyed their domestic market.
