New Delhi. The Modi government is now preparing to rein in internet media. For this, the government is going to bring a new law soon. According to sources, the government believes that whatever content comes on the internet media, there is no accountability on those who post them. This accountability will now be fixed by the new law. According to government sources, the IT Ministry is going to bring such a law, under which there will be rules for the responsibility of internet media, secure internet and cyber security. The protection of data will also find a place in this law. Overall, it will be difficult to survive by serving anything on websites, YouTube channels etc.
Earlier in the year 2021, the Modi government changed the IT rules. Social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter were made accountable with the new IT rule. These new rules have brought a lot of improvement, but still there is no accountability in websites and YouTube channels. Because of this, preparations are being made to bring a new law. At present, there is no rule on data protection in the country. Because of this, many messaging platforms argue that when there is no such rule, then what law should they follow. In such a situation, anti-national and social content spreads rapidly through platforms like WhatsApp or Telegram.
Government sources say that whatever content comes on social media, responsibility should be fixed for it. It is not yet decided when the law will be made, but there is an attempt to get it passed by Parliament this year. The government is also looking at similar laws made abroad. If anything is served on the Internet media or platforms like Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp after the law is enacted and it is challenged, then the company will have to prove the challenge wrong. Otherwise strict action will be taken against him.
