According to the latest news, Wipro has laid off 120 employees. It has come to light that these retrenchments are being done in Wipro’s office in America. It is being told that due to business needs, Wipro has decided to lay off its US office.
In the information given by Wipro about this retrenchment, it has been told that there are more than 100 processing agents among those affected. Team leaders and team managers have also been brought under the ambit of retrenchment. According to Wipro management, 120 people have been laid off in a particular area. The company has told that this will not affect its other employees working in America. The employees currently under retrenchment will be removed from May this year. Right now they are running on notice period. During the notice period, Wipro will continue to pay salary and other allowances to its retrenched employees.
Before Wipro, big companies like Amazon and Google had also announced to lay off thousands of employees this year. After acquiring Twitter, Elon Musk laid off thousands of employees and closed many of his offices around the world. At present, employees are being affected by the retrenchment in IT sector companies. If the shadow of recession deepens, there is a danger of losing jobs in other sectors as well.
